1. Block/Scratch Coding (Grades 3-4)
Block coding is a great way to introduce kids in grades 1 and 2 to coding in python. Since
kids have trouble typing at these ages, they can use the “drag and drop” function to build
code. We use a block coding program and also Scratch, a program based in MIT. Our
teacher will guide students through different coding exercises that teach kids how to use
code to make animated images, create backgrounds, use the space as a graph and utilize
basic math concepts, etc. This is a very fun way to get kids into coding and works very well
in the schools we run our programs in.
2. Computer Programming with Python – 2 months / 16 Sessions (Grades 5-6)
Prepare your child to be a leader in the high-tech world by learning how to code in Python,
one of the most broadly used computer programming languages today. Students will create
images with code, develop a working restaurant app that greets customers, takes their
orders and prepares a bill. Along the way, students will learn the most important
foundational skills of coding in any language: sending information to users, accepting user
inputs, saving information in variables and making basic decisions. Intended for first time
coders, this class is a perfect way to explore coding using real-world skills.
3. Building with Python – 2 Months / 16 Sessions (Grades 7-8)
Something happens in grades seven and eight that differs from what goes on in the earlier grades. Kids in these grades usually want projects that are more challenging. In this program we will not only give them foundational skills and concepts in coding, we will also give them exciting problems to solve that will help them to make meaningful textual and graphic applications that serve a purpose and can prove useful to others.
Adaleg IT (www.adalegit.com) runs remote and on-site programs for adults and children in
Coding, Data Science and Machine Learning, Robotics, and Cloud Computing in Jewish
Communities in Canada and the USA.
Our Coding for Kids at Home Program (www.codingforkidsathome.com) provides remote
coding and robotics classes in day schools (grades 1-12) led by expert teachers, trained in
programming. They make coding educational and fun for kids.

Participants are required to use their own device (e.g chromebook or desktop computer).
If students take classes using Microbit, the Microbit (included in the cost) will be provided on day one.
A Microbit will be sent to you in the mail.
